5G-TIMBER @ ManuThon 2024 Hackathon Event

Reggio Emilia, Italy – 19-20/04/2024

5G-TIMBER, represented by POLIMI and Harmet, participated in ManuThon, an initiative by the Italian Association of Manufacturing Technologies (AITeM). The two-day manufacturing hackathon, which took place on April 19th and 20th, saw 100 students from various Italian universities converge to tackle three industrial challenges, one of which was proposed by our very own project.

Focusing on enhancing support for human operators and safety in Harmet’s factory, our challenge drew enthusiastic participation from six dynamic student groups. Their mission? To innovate and devise solutions that would not only meet the challenge but exceed expectations.

The event commenced with a plenary session on April 19th, setting the stage for 24 hours of intense collaboration and problem-solving. Armed with creativity, determination, and a plethora of skills, the teams dove headfirst into the challenge, working tirelessly through the night.

The culmination of their efforts was showcased during a public presentation session, broadcasted live on YouTube. Each group took to the stage to unveil their proposals and results, demonstrating ingenuity and resourcefulness at every turn.

Among the standout presentations, the TechniCal group emerged victorious, earning acclaim for their innovative solution. Their proposal not only impressed with its creativity but also showed promise in significantly enhancing safety and efficiency in Harmet’s factory.

As a token of appreciation for their exceptional work, the TechniCal group was awarded a prize of 1000€ and received public recognition during the event's final session.
